[event] Boomtick – MAJOR BASS

Gunna try make this one! Some major players — BOOM ! -‘rascal recommended’

shit yeah, hell yeah

…below copy from here: Boomtick – MAJOR BASS.

Saturday 21 July 2012

VillaDoors open 10pm

Boomtick’s midyear mini-fest was a beautiful thing. In 8 years we had mad great times, a lot of them, but the truth is…well, we move with the times and we need something bigger than Major Break.

You feel us?

And we’re rolling MAJOR BASS out in 2012 with the best of the best:

Yeah, you feel that.

All hail the Godfather of breakbeat, Rennie Pilgrem. One of the last remaining stand of producer/remixer/DJ, Rennie Pilgrem was at the crest of the rave explosion 20 years ago and a (if not the) pioneer of the nu-breaks sound. He started out in Rhythm Section; authors of the early breakbeat hit ‘Feel the Rhythm (Comin on Strong)’. Then came ‘Thursday Club’ and ‘Thursday Theme’. Hell, all breakbeat enthusiasts have every release from the Rennie Pilgrem and Adam Freeland label Friction – especially the Nu Skool Breakz compilations. Another Pilgrem-run label, TCR (Thursday Club Recordings), spread the breaks gospel and we were all on board the Pilgrem train with his tracks ‘Like No Other’ and ‘Hey Funky People’.

He’s remixed for Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince (yes, WILL SMITH), Freq Nasty, Meat Katie and Arthur Baker. Rennie’s latest work flies the Nu/Jungle/Breaks flags and assures us we’re in for a classic Rennie Pilgrem performance.

When you think MAJOR BASS, nothing says it better than Cutline – the most-talked about act in their sound joining us for their first. Time. In. Perth. The DJ elite (Skream, Rusko, Andy C) line-up to drop Cutline tracks in their sets: intense, powerful production and frikkin’ speaker-busting basslines. Got a Cutline mixtape? Then you know Cutline moves your face with every sort of bass: dubstep, drum ‘n bass, electro and everything in-between. Dan and Jeryl’s rise to fame in less than two years is meteoric: releasing tracks on UKF, Pilot Records, Never Say Die and their own Not Safe For Work label and lending their remixing skills to Danny Bird & Netsky, Aquasky, The Qemists and more.

The reports all confirm Cutline are guaranteed to destroy big room raves every time. You’re in for a mad crazy Cutline-time.

Boomtick loves Nick Thayer, and dang has he exploded into the biggest Australian export over the last 12 months, Like BOOM!

Nick Thayer has forever been every UK breakbeat DJ’s favourite co-producer, he dropped the album Just Let It Go in 2010 and that was the turning-point in his career from great to out-of-this-world. The album was nominated for Best Electronic Album at the Australian Independent Music Awards and caught the attention of the world’s biggest DJ, Skrillex. Thassright, Nick Thayer drank out of the bass and dubstep cup and he’s poppin’ tunes bigger than Popeye’s guns! Now signed to Skrillex’s OWSLA label with the ‘Like Boom’ EP – his most successful output to date. Nick Thayer shows scant regard for genres, tempos, or accepted notions of what club music should be, and as a result, delivers the best club music.

Our kind of club music.

The opportunity to see three acts of this calibre, supported by the best of the Boomtick bass elite, in one room on one night is rare-as-hell.

Don’t miss MAJOR BASS.

Clan Analogue: the Cassette releases

Posted on 9th April 2012 by Brett Caporn (LRRecords) in dj set,dnb,downtempo,dub/wise,electronica,labels,music

Clan Analogue have a full schedule of releases and events lined up for 2012 to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the legendary Australian electronic music and arts collective. First up, Clan Analogue are pleased to announce that a selection of albums originally released only on cassette in the mid-90s are now available in digital non-physical formats from iTunes, Juno Records, Beatport and other digital retailers.  These releases have been remastered from the original master tapes.

The cassette releases come from an era when Clan Analogue released the first recordings by acts who later established international reputations in techno and electronic music, such as B(if)tekInfusionTerra 9 and Dark Network.

Now available in digital non-physical format are:

Schizmatrix – various artists (catalogue number CAC01)

One of the rarest releases in Australian electronic music, Schizmatrix launched the Studio Series of Clan Analogue cassettes. With classic early tracks by Infusion, B(if)tekDark Network and others,  it is of immense interest to any aficionado of this musical era.

Clan Analogue Melbourne – various artists (catalogue number CA006E)

Capturing perfectly the 7am vibe at 90s Victorian forest raves such as Earthcore and Technofest, Clan Analogue Melbourne collects ambient electronic sounds and subtle grooves from artists such as MooSeo and The Spartacus Barraworn. This release launched the Melbourne branch of the Clan Analogue collective.

Music For Aliens – Holy Terra and Nanotech (catalogue number CA009)

Containing a side each by Sydney acts Holy Terra and NanotechMusic For Aliens explores sounds from techno and trance through to chilled downbeat ambience. Holy Terra later metamorphosed into the internationally-acclaimed Terra 9 while Nanotech’s Ant Banister went on to form acts such as EidolonThe FlowGalactic Gangstars and Lunar Module.

Clan Analogue plan to make more archival recordings available in 2012 and also have a brand new compilation in the works which celebrates the heritage of the collective in a unique way. Stay tuned to Clan Analogue via Facebook, Twitter or the Clan Analogue website for more details as they emerge….
